As we expand, we’re looking for an experienced Customs & Freight Agent to ensure our products move legally, efficiently, and with care.
The Role:
As Customs & Freight Agent, you’ll manage and streamline the import/export process, ensuring our shipments meet all customs requirements and arrive on time. You’ll coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal teams to reduce delays, minimize costs, and keep the supply chain flowing smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and submit import/export documentation for U.S. and Caribbean shipments
- Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and carriers to ensure compliance
- Monitor shipping schedules and track cargo through ports, warehouses, and final delivery
- Ensure accurate classification (HTS codes), valuations, and labeling for goods
- Resolve customs clearance issues, delays, or inspections with urgency and professionalism
- Maintain records of duties paid, shipping costs, and customs correspondence
- Stay current on trade regulations, tariff changes, and international shipping protocols
- Support procurement and logistics teams with freight quotes and shipment planning
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in customs clearance, international freight, or import/export logistics
- Knowledge of U.S. and Caribbean customs laws, HTS codes, and shipping documentation
- Familiarity with incoterms, bills of lading, and port operations
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and documentation skills
- Bonus: Experience working with food products or FMCGs in Caribbean markets
